Genuine Toyota Brake Components
What do they do?
The components of your braking system should be inspected according to Toyota's maintenance schedule for your year and model. If brakes drag, pull, pulsate or produce abnormal noise, see your Alix Toyota dealer immediately.
1. Brake Pad
What do they do?
Brake pads must create the proper amount of friction and deliver smooth stopping performance with a minimum of noise while operating under a wide variety of conditions.
Why service them?
Brake pads are designed to wear with use and the need for replacement will be determined by usage and loads.
2. Brake Caliper
What do they do?
This component straddles the brake rotor and houses the brake piston and the brake pads. As you push on the brake pedal, the piston moves in the caliper and pushes the brake pads against the rotor to slow and stop the vehicle.
Why service them?
The caliper itself requires little maintenance. The piston and its seals can deteriorate over time and may require service. The caliper moves on slide pins and these must be kept clean and well lubricated for safe brake operation.
3. Brake Rotor
What do they do?
Brake rotors are cast-iron discs which rotate with the tire & wheel. As the brakes are applied, the pressure from brake pads against each side of the rotor slows the vehicle to a stop. Rotors can be solid or ventilated which allows for greater cooling effect when braking.
Why service them?
The action of the pads pushing on the rotor generates both heat and wear. The rotors can become grooved or warped, causing poor, uneven or noisy stopping.

Oil Filters
What do they do?
- Oil protects against friction, wear and damage in your engine.
- Oil filters remove harmful particles from the oil, protecting your engine and prolonging its life.
Why replace them?

Winter Tires
Why Winter Tires?
When it comes to Canada's snowy and icy roads, winter tires offer you the greatest measure of safety. While all-season tires provide excellent non-winter performance, they do not provide the level of snow and ice traction necessary to earn them the industry's new severe winter tire classification.
Two tires or four?
Since the winter tires will grip much better in slippery conditions, installing them on only two wheels will disrupt your vehicle's handling. Toyota recommends that you always install winter tires on all four wheels.
Who knows your Toyota best?
While many places sell winter tires, your Alix Toyota dealer carries winter tires that are selected by Toyota Canada to offer leading edge technology at a very competitive price. For those who like to mount winter tires on a second set of rims, your dealer also has Genuine Toyota steel rims at great prices.

Toyota Winter Wiper Blades
Why winter wiper blades?
When it comes to driving visibility, winter presents some special challenges. With regular blades, snow, ice and salt can build up and seriously reduce wiping action and your view of the road ahead. Winter wiper blades are made from high-strength, anti-corrosive materials and the frame is totally encased in a rubber boot to prevent ice and snow from jamming the hinges or building up on the outside of the blade.
When to replace?
The rule of thumb is to change to winter blades when you change to winter tires and then go back to all-season blades when you go back to regular tires. Even if you don't switch to winter tires, winter blades are a good, safe idea.
Why Toyota winter wiper blades?
They are:
- Designed to meet Toyota specifications
- Durable long-lasting construction
- Engineered to fit today's windshield contours
- Easy to install with simple-to-follow illustrated instructions
- Available for most models

Wiper Inserts
Why do wiper inserts wear?
Ultra-violet rays, temperature extremes, sand, salt and grit all work together to damage the rubber insert of the wiper. Over time, this results in poor wiper performance and may also damage the windshield or place an excessive load on the wiper motor and linkage.
Why inserts?
When the rubber wiping element wears out and the wiper blade superstructure remains in good condition, wiper inserts are the economical answer to restoring your wipers to peak efficiency.
Why genuine Toyota inserts?
- Custom fit with no need to trim to size or bend wiper claws.
- Easy to replace with simple-to-follow, illustrated instructions.
- Aerodynamically designed compression-molded rubber.
- Competitively priced alternative to replacing entire blade assembly.
